Our Story

Ian Patrick

THIRD GENERATION DAIRY FARMER

Ian and Janet Patrick’s farming enterprise has gone from strength to strength since Peel relocated their award-winning dairy farm and pedigree Ayrshire herd to a new dairy facility on 110 acres of land at Whitegate Farm, Over Hulton, Bolton.

“We were involved nearly all the way with the design and planning of the new set-up”

The Patrick family’s farming roots can be traced back to the 1500s. “As farming tenants, we have known as far back as 1970 that there was a possibility that Garrett Hall would be developed. Planning proposals came and went until an application at the end of 2012 was approved in 2013. We have always had a good relationship with Peel and were on a 1948 three-generation tenancy, so we were delighted to be given the chance of a new opportunity. We were involved nearly all the way with the design and planning of the new set-up. Farming is in our blood and it’s amazing that our future has been secured and that our special Ayrshire breed is continuing to thrive.”
