Up and Running

November 2020

The first wind farm on the docks - Seaforth Wind Farm - is built along the dock wall between the shipping lanes and the container port, and is adjacent to Crosby beach.

It originally had six turbines but to allow construction works to commence on the Liverpool 2 deep water container terminal, Turbine 1 was dismantled in September 2013. The export capacity of the scheme is now down rated to 3 MW.

Planning consent for the four 125m turbines that make up the Port of Liverpool Wind Farm on the waterfront at Alexandra, Langton, Canada and Huskisson Docks was granted in 2006. Construction started in 2008 and the wind farm was commissioned in 2009.
