Habitat Enhancement Fund

November 2020

Scout Moor Wind Farm, operational since 2008, is a 26-turbine development on moorland in the South Pennines situated between the village of Edenfield and the town of Rochdale. Each of the 26 Nordex N80 turbines has the capacity to generate 2.5MW of electricity.

The Scout Moor Wind Farm Habitat Enhancement Fund (HEF) was set up to enable environmental improvement works within the Pennine uplands of East/ South Lancashire and Greater Manchester, aimed at the maintenance, restoration and re-establishment of habitat and wildlife interests. Projects are funded using revenue derived from the operation of the wind farm. Payments have been from the first year of operation and will be made annually until the wind farm is decommissioned after 25 years.
