A state-of-the-art paper mill including a dedicated Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant

Peel Environmental (part of Peel L&P) provided a property solution and supported SAICA’s entry into the UK paper market. The Partington development was £290m of inward investment that create 200 jobs. The site was cleared in 2009 and the mill became operational in January 2012.

The SAICA paper mill has a giant state-of-the-art papermaking machine at its heart and includes a recovered fibre storage centre and energy plant. It is operated by a skilled workforce to produce high-quality papers, which can be converted into advanced packaging. When fully operational, the mill is capable of producing around 450,000 tonnes of paper per year. It started operations in January 2012 and was officially opened in April 2013.
